Music Teaching Assistant
Reporting To: Prep Music Curriculum Leader / TA Coordinator
Base: Kowloon Bay Campus
Function: To support teachers in the provision of a positive learning environment in the school
On a day to day basis Teaching Assistants are required to demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of a Teaching Assistant’s professional duties as set out in this job description, and as outlined in the applicable Kellett School Association Ltd. Terms and Conditions of Employment.
Teaching Assistants are required to set a good example to the students, through their presentation, personal and professional conduct.
Key Tasks and Duties
To provide administrative and technical support for Preparatory Music Department.
To teach recorders.
To assist in the creation and maintenance of resources and equipment.
To work under the direction of school staff as directed by the Music Curriculum Leader/School Leadership Team (SLT).
To maintain a positive relationship with children, parents and colleagues.
To ensure the good behaviour of the students in your care, develop positive attitudes; encourage self-discipline and foster self-esteem.
To maintain confidentiality on all matters relating to students, staff, school management and parents.
To comply with health and safety arrangements and draw to the attention of the Deputy Head of School any deficiencies or risks.
To assist with the supervision of students on their arrival/departure and during school times;Lunch-time period, breaks and before the start of lessons as requested.
To accompany students off the school premises as directed by school staff, but usually in the presence of a teacher.
To assist in the ordering and management of resources and stock. To maintain stock records.
To use Kellett School resources judiciously.
To promote a positive image of Kellett School in the immediate and wider community.
Participate in any ad hoc assignments and provide support as required
To be willing to assist with all school events throughout the year as required
Undertake any other duties as reasonably required by the Music Curriculum Leader/School Leadership Team (SLT) and Principal.
Musical knowledge/background a distinct advantage but not essential
A very good understanding and working knowledge of ICT
Knowledge in basic IT/lights/sounds to support class assemblies
Willing to learn
Excellent spoken and written English
Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and the wider school community
Ability to develop positive cooperative relationships with others
Ability to work independently
Terms and Conditions
Working Hours : 22 hours per week. Actual days/times to be agreed. Term time only.
